Persol reaffirms once again this year its long-standing connection to the world of cinema. From 13 to 24 May 2025, the iconic Italian eyewear brand celebrated the spirit of the seventh art by welcoming international film stars to the breathtaking setting of La Terrasse by Albane in Cannes.
At the heart of the Croisette, Casa Persol—the brand’s exclusive showroom perched on a magnificent panoramic terrace—served as the backdrop for the unveiling of the Steve McQueen 2025 collection, a genuine expression of Persol’s enduring love affair with auteur cinema.
A true emblem of timeless Italian style, the 714 Steve McQueen model captures the perfect balance of elegance and functionality. With its foldable pilot frame in premium acetate, the design is elevated by signature metal accents that speak to Persol’s unmistakable identity. These include the iconic Supreme Arrow, hexagonal rivets on the bridge and Meflecto temples, and—just on the limited edition—a discreet plaque on the inner left temple engraved with “1968”, the year The Thomas Crown Affair premiered. In this cult classic, Steve McQueen famously wore the 714, sealing the bond between the American star and the brand. Completing the look are Barberini mineral glass lenses, available in four bold colourways, adding a distinctive edge that reflects Persol’s bold spirit.
To complement the limited-edition release, Persol has created a sleek, minimalist collector’s box designed to house a curated selection of refined accessories. The set includes a compact, foldable glasses case and a matching cord with its own dedicated leather pouch—both crafted in leather and embossed with the Steve McQueen logo. Completing the ensemble are a premium paper pouch for the microfibre cloth and a vintage-style envelope containing rare archival materials that pay tribute to Steve McQueen’s legacy.
In the exclusive setting of La Terrasse by Albane, Persol hosted a refined luncheon with acclaimed actor Pierfrancesco Favino as special guest. The brand also took centre stage as the main sponsor of the parties for Qui Brille au Combat and Vie Privée, attended by the film’s cast. Further cementing its presence at Cannes, Persol made its mark on the red carpet, worn by some of the most celebrated stars in international cinema.
