An ongoing exploration of global culture, framed through music, the latest chapter of The Sound of Prada – presented by Prada Eyewear – took place in Berlin on May 28, 2025, featuring a trio of international talents.
Held at the Kranzler Eck, a historic café located on Kurfürstendamm in Berlin’s Charlottenburg district that has been a hub of the city’s social and cultural scene since the 19th century, The Sound of Prada Berlin showcased a set from multi-award winning American singer, actor, and producer Janelle Monáe. A multihyphenate performer who also helms her own record imprint, Wondaland Arts Society, helping to elevate new and exciting musical talent, for The Sound of Prada Monáe performed a DJ set under her alter ego, DJ Johnny Jane.
Monáe’s set was accompanied by two DJs whose musical styles find perfect reflection in the cross-pollination characteristic of the Berlin. The opening act, Christian AB, seeks to break down musical barriers within electronica while closing act Channel Tres blends techno and house with West Coast rap in his distinct style.
The Sound of Prada was first staged in Paris in 2019, offering a new perspective on Prada’s deep and intrinsic links with culture. Further chapters debuted in London (2021), Cannes (2022) and Seoul (2024), each taking over a landmark space to both echo their host city, and amplify a global message. A city renowned for a dynamic and avant-garde music scene for decades – one that still shapes musical expression today – Berlin was a natural home for this latest iteration. Fusing music, contemporary culture and fashion, this event featured a site-specific installation dedicated to the Prada Symbole eyewear collection.
The Sound of Prada Berlin was attended by guests including Kit Connor, Wolfram Eckert, Ncuti Gatwa, Prada Ambassador Benedetta Porcaroli, Prada Ambassador Troye Sivan, Clemens Schick, Lilith Stangenberg, Langston Uibel, Lisa Vicari.
