The Vision Council Announces Updated Data Communication Standard for the Optical Industry

The Vision Council is pleased to announce the completion and approval of Version 3.14 of the Data Communication Standard.

Developed by the Data Communications Standard Committee, this updated standard reflects the optical industry’s ongoing commitment to innovation and technological advancement. The newly released version introduces essential updates to keep pace with evolving technologies and features a reorganized structure for defining data points, ensuring greater consistency in the delivery and interpretation of inspection data.

Advancing Interconnectivity in Optical Manufacturing The Data

Communication Standard provides a unified method for machines and software systems used in the fabrication of ophthalmic lenses to seamlessly exchange information. By simplifying interconnections between manufacturers of optical lab equipment and producers of optical lab software, the standard enables greater efficiency, accuracy, and interoperability throughout the industry.
