The press conference presenting the 53rd edition of MIDO, the international eyewear show scheduled from Saturday, February 8 to Monday, February 10 at Fiera Milano Rho, took place this morning. Business, Made in Italy, innovation, trends and education the key words of the Milanese eyewear show.
More than 1,200 exhibitors from more than 50 countries and visitors from 160 nations, including buyers, opticians, professionals, journalists and all industry professionals. MIDO is the privileged stage for global eyewear, bringing the entire production chain to the fore, the only event in the world in the sector to do so, and putting the spotlight on a system that in Italy alone is worth more than 5 billion euros and employs 19 thousand people, which celebrates eyewear at 360°, promoting business and trade agreements internationally.
“MIDO is just around the corner and this will be my first edition in the role of President, and I do not hide a certain excitement,” said President Lorraine Berton. ‘Over the years I have experienced MIDO as an entrepreneur and what has always impressed me is its ability to transform, enrich itself, adapt to the times, often even anticipating them. With this edition, we strongly wanted to pursue this concept of continuous evolution and improvement, constantly responding to the needs and requirements of the many professionals around the world who work in this sector. In a historical and economic moment of great uncertainty, such as the one we are experiencing, demonstrating to the world the industrial strength and economic power of a healthy and thriving production sector such as eyewear is a duty, as well as a necessity.”
