Costa Del Mar, born on the water over 40 years ago, is announcing its largest expansion of the Untangled Collection to date. The launch marks the brand’s first apparel and accessories made with NetPlus 100% recycled nylon fabric, debuting alongside five new eyewear styles.
Costa partnered with Bureo, makers of NetPlus, to bring the collection to life. Since 2018, the partnership has repurposed over 3.9 metric tons of discarded fishing nets into eyewear. Using NetPlus over virgin materials has reduced CO2 emissions by 6 metric tons, saved over 11,400 liters of fossil fuels, and conserved 1.47 million liters of water. The new head-to-toe gear includes the Untangled Oceans Jacket, Convert Cargo, and Hat—featuring water-repellent, quick-dry construction and reflective accents.
“The Untangled Collection has always been about finding better ways to build products for the water while helping protect the places that inspire us” said Trevor McGowen, Senior Director, Brand Marketing. “By expanding the collection into apparel for the first time, we’re taking that commitment beyond eyewear. We believe the more people that get out there and experience the water for themselves, the more reason they have to care about protecting it.”
Expanding the Untangled Lineup
“Innovation is in our DNA, and sustainability has always been at the core of our mission.” Says Kevin Ahearn, Bureo co-founder and CTO. “We forged this alliance with Costa 7+ years ago, driven by a shared commitment to protecting the places we love. This new apparel collection illustrates how our combined effort continues to be a catalyst for change, and further expands the reach of our environmental and social impact. For Bureo, this is not just about making another product, but illustrating to consumers and the industry what is possible when brands commit to doing better. The result is a living example of a product that performs with purpose.”
Five new eyewear styles made with at least 75% post-consumer recycled fishing nets join the collection:
San Carlos & Tavi:

Hybrid performance frames featuring scratch-resistant 580G lenses, sweat management, and broad protection.
Mooring & Sunlace:

Lifestyle-focused 4-base frames blending fashion with 580G polarized glass lenses and UV protection.
Rizzler:

A Next Gen extra-small frame for young anglers, equipped with Bio-Poly lenses made from at least 60% bio-circular content.
Costa’s commitment extends through conservation partnerships and operational sustainability. The Untangled Oceans apparel is available now, and the new eyewear styles launch Tuesday, September 15 on CostaDelMar.com and at select retailers starting at $225.
