Independent eye care professionals (ECPs) across Canada now have a new way to learn from peers who’ve been there. Eye Care Collective (ECC) has unveiled The Inner Circle, an exclusive ambassador program that puts members’ voices at the centre of the Collective.
“You didn’t go independent to think small, and neither did we,” says Teresa Sebastian, Chief Operating Officer at Eye Care Collective. “Our members are independent thinkers who built something of their own and want to keep it that way. The Inner Circle works directly with standout ECPs to build a stronger, more connected community of peers.”
Ambassadors will share real-world insights, discuss industry challenges head-on, and talk openly about how they care for their patients.
A Voice for Independent ECPs
Renee Cummings, a Licensed Optician and contact lens fitter based in Red Deer, Alta., is the program’s first member. Bridging her 20 years of industry experience, Cummings launched her mobile optician business, A Welcome Sight, in 2025 to give patients personalized care on their own terms. Her approach pairs expertise with genuine connection, built on conversation, and a shared love of great eyewear.
“Going out on my own came with a steep learning curve, but it gave me the freedom to meet clients where they are and put their needs first,” says Cummings. “Joining The Inner Circle felt like a natural step. ECC handles the savings and the back-end admin, so I can focus on what matters: my patients and the craft. I’m excited to bring that same energy to supporting this community.”
As part of The Inner Circle, Cummings will share content on ECC’s social media channels, write about new ideas and hot topics in the industry, and connect with members through webinars, interviews, and community initiatives.
“We’re stronger together,” says Sebastian. “Renee shows what independent eye care looks like at its best, and she’s exactly who our members should be hearing from.”
