Younger Optics will announce the launch of LED PRO lenses at Vision Expo in Orlando. LED PRO lenses are the first patented ophthalmic lens technology engineered to selectively absorb the intense wavelengths that cause visual discomfort in white LED lighting. Made with high index 1.67 MR‑10 material from Mitsui Chemicals, LED PRO lenses introduce a unique solution for patients affected by the growing prevalence of LED illumination in everyday life.

About the lens
Modern white LEDs generate sharp intensity peaks at 450 nm and 550 nm, wavelengths known to trigger glare, fatigue, and visual discomfort — especially during night driving, computer use, and sports* played under artificial lighting. LED PRO lenses incorporate specialized selective‑absorption dyes that precisely target these two intensity peaks, reducing discomfort without compromising optical clarity.
“We are proud to offer a new way to address the growing problem of discomfort caused by white LED light. LED PRO represents a meaningful advancement for anyone who struggles with today’s lighting environment,” says David Rips, President & CEO of Younger Optics.
Why is this lens product important for eye care practices?
Eye care practices can now offer their patients a solution to the common problem of eye discomfort caused by bright white LED light that is different from existing blue-light lenses.
What is the current availability?
LED PRO lenses will be initially available to labs in semi-finished single vision high index 1.67 MR‑10 (hardcoated), with eight base curves from 0.50 D to 7.00 D and an Rx range of –14.00 D to +8.00 D. Available soon: high index 1.60 MR‑8.
